"My name is Jason Welton I have studied many martial arts in various parts of the world for thirty three years now. My father was in the Navy so I studied on or near navy bases in Hawaii, San Diego, Seattle, Virginia Beach, Kansas, and now Denver. I hold black belts in Tae Kwon DO, Aikido, and Aikijitsu. I have also studied briefly several other arts like Judo, Kendo, Aido, Kung Fu, and Escrimma. I have met many different instructors and seen many teaching styles.
I first moved to Denver six months ago. I shopped around with many local schools and was left a little unsatisfied. I felt some were charging exorbitant fees, others had mediocre instructors, and all were too far from my location in the Golden/Lakewood area.At this point, I had resigned to the fact I would not find what I was looking for. I began looking for vacant facilities to open an MMA school. During my search for a facility, I ran across Denver Jiu Jitsu, which had just opened its doors in exactly my area. So I called the instructors and talked to them about my history and what I was looking for and they were very receptive. I showed up to try it out and was overtaken by the depth of the skill sets these instructors hold. I was more than impressed by their athleticism and most of all my family felt welcomed by their friendship.
Since that point I try to make to every class available to my schedule. I feel as if I can’t stand to miss a day because each day they add more to your arsenal of weapons. These are world class instructors and I feel extremely privileged to train with them, yet they treat everyone as friends and colleagues and peers. So glad I found a home here in Denver!"--- Jason Welton, 36, BJJ / Muay Thai
"Joining Denver Jiu Jitsu is probably one the best decision that I have ever made! I was really bored with my work out routine, and was ready for something new and challenging - so I decided to take a Muay Thai kickboxing class at DJJ. I instantly fell in love with the program and now take it 4 days a week! The Muay Thai trainer, Ethan, is awesome! He is so encouraging and motivating - we are constantly learning new things, so I always look forward to class. Taking Muay Thai encouraged me to try things outside of my comfort zone - so I recently started learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu AND started taking the new Cage Fighter fitness class! Now I'm at the gym 4 to 6 days a week1 All of the trainers and other members are such a joy to be around, they are truely some of my favorite people!" --- Morin Frick, 28, Muay Thai / BJJ / CageFighter Fitness
