WE PROVIDE A WELL ROUNDED APPROACH TO BJJ THAT INCLUDES TRAINING WITHOUT THE GI.
Training with the gi is essential to becoming even a modestly technical grappler / practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, we also feel that it is essential to your training that you experience grappling without the gi on as well. Grappling without the gi requires some minor changes in grips and in the choice of technique, we will show you first-hand the adjustments necessary to succeed in grappling without the gi, whether you intend to use it in tournaments, mixed martial arts, or just as everyday self defense.
Our nogi classes offer a technically refined approach to nogi bjj that looks at the slight changes involved in taking off the gi. However, we DO NOT recommend that students focus exclusively on training without the gi, as it lowers the technical abilities of the student and can MAJORLY subtract from the student's understanding of the leverage and grips involved in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In short, Marcello Garcia, a multiple-time nogi world champion who is considered to be one of the FINEST nogi grapplers on earth, said it best:
"Its CRUCIAL to train with the gi to have the finest technique." - Marcelo Garcia
